St Peter is unique in having two separate sections of coast.Part of the coast is on St Ouen's Bay on the west, with wide open sands, backed by sand dunes. The other coastal area is at the foot of Beaumont Hill, on St Aubin's Bay to the south. St Peter is perhaps best known as the location for the airport, but it also has pleasant rural areas, like St Peter's Valley. It was the first parish to pioneer the Green Lanes concept.
In the photograph on the right the church can be clearly seen at the centre of the village, with the school nearby. This picture looks towards the east. In the photograph on the left the school buildings can be seen clearly behind the church. Beyond are fields which extend towards the airport. The new housing (behind the furniture store) was under construction at the time.

The keys to heaven are generally associated with St Peter. Here they are silver and are crossed on a red background, surrounded by gold. The gold is a reminder of the sands that make up much of this parish.
The emblem has been developed into a design for the pew cushions in the Parish Church.
The Church of St Peter probably dates back to the 11th century. The oldest part, the chancel, has walls made from large stones from the beach, and they are almost 4 feet (1.2 metres) thick.
The steeple carries a red warning light for planes using the nearby airport.
There are some unusual stained glass windows, one devoted to farming and the other about the airport.
The Parish Hall is right next to the church, and in fact has a door and stairway leading directly into the churchyard.
The Parish Hall displays the parish emblem prominently on its entrance doors.
The Cross is situated on the northern perimeter of the airport, at the top pf Jubilee Hill.
The Stone was placed near the parish school.
