Egyptian Lodge, corner of Midvale Road and Val Plaisant 1837 Evidence of the growing interest in the Middle East

Bree's Stopford Hotel 1842 Known now as the Royal Hotel, David Place
Almorah Crescent 1844+ The crescent looks out over town, and is itself part of the view from the Harbour
St Mark's Church 1845 During the building process, the walls collapsed, and the church had to be rebuilt
Victoria Harbour 1846 The new harbour was named in honour of the Queen, following her visit
Wesley Grove Methodist Chapel 1847 An impressive church, especially seen from the far end of Halkett Place
First Tower Methodist Chapel 1847 Now known as The Bay Methodist Chapel
Aquila Methodist Church 1849 Built for the Bible Christians, an offshoot of the Methodist church

Baptist Chapel, Vauxhall 1851 Originally built for a French congregation
Anley Street, alleyway to the Esplanade 1852 Originally this framed a lovely view out to the Hermitage
Albert Pier 1853 Renamed for the Queen's Consort
Almorah cemetery 1854 The chapel and lodges were completed in 1858
Halkett Place Chapel 1855 The chapel was rebuilt by Jean Le Rossignol
Lloyds Bank, Broad Street 1858 Many banks date from this period
St Columba's Church of Scotland, Midvale Road 1859 The spire was removed following earthquake damage in the early 20th century
