This notice appeared a few days after an earlier notice which was less specific about the penalty intended for anyone guilty of sheltering any of the people listed.
Notice. Order of the Field Commandant
On or before the 5th day of November, 1940, every person who is sheltering a person of any of the following classes must make the report hereinafter ordered:
1. British subjects not of Jersey birth, with the exception of those who had their permanent residence in the Island before the 1st September, 1939.
2. British subjects who have come to the Island since the German Occupation.
3. British subjects, including natives of the Island, who had left the Island before the German Occupation and who have returned since.
Whoever, after the 5th day of November, 1940, continues to shelter a British subject of amy of the foregoing classes without having made the required report, or who subsequently shelters of conceals a British subject of any of the foregoing classes, particularly members of the British Armed Forces, shall be shot.
Reports are to be made in writing to the Attorney General, States Offices, St Helier, not later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5th, 1940.
