Very simple measures could have improved the quality of life for everyone in Medieval England and would have saved the lives of thousands. A study of health and hygiene should include the diet and its deficiencies for both rich and poor. Many of these deficiencies are related to the variations in the harvest and therefore the price of wheat and to the living conditions in both town and country. This latter topic relates closely to the spread of the Black Death, control of which would have been difficult under any circumstances. A possible contrast for illustration could be the modern control of rabies by exclusion. |
