Women | ||
|
Women were non-citizens. What happened in their lives was controlled by their fathers and their husbands. A girl would marry at about 15 years old, and the bridegroom was usually quite a lot older than the bride. A woman's role in society was to look after the household, spin and weave cloth, and look after the children. Women could not inherit property or land, and were not able to take part in running the city.
