Egyptian doctors

Egyptian doctors knew quite a lot about how the body works because they helped to prepare the mummies for burial.

The dead person's liver, stomach, intestines and lungs were often put into 'canopic jars'. These jars were put into the tomb with the mummy.

The heart of the dead person was put back into the body before it was wrapped in bandages.
