The mouth of the river

The place where the river flows into the sea is called the river mouth. Here you can see the river water joining the sea water. The river water mingles with the sea water, and the hydrological cycle is complete.

At the river mouth there may be harbours or docks for fishing boats, cargo boats or ferries. Anchoring in the river means that the boats are safe from rough seas.
